Bib Cock & Ball Valve

A bib cock (bibcock or bib tap) is a wall-mounted tap with a horizontal inlet that screws straight onto the water pipe, and a ball valve is a quarter-turn shut-off valve that opens or closes a water line with a 90° turn of the lever. Which one do I need?

  • Bib cock: a tap for an outlet point, choose brass, zinc or plastic.
  • Ball valve: an on/off valve inside a line, brass 1/2″ for threaded lines, PVC 20, 25 or 32 mm for PVC lines.
